Wolfville NS] OnSunday, May 27,Roxeen & Dalrymple, bring their perfect blend of tradition and distinctive homegrown sound to theChezzetcook Firehall.
Nova Scotia’s Roxeen & Dalrymplemay be one of the province’s newest acoustic act, however, they are far from being new on the music scene. Originally teamed together 25 years ago as band mates of the legendary Spinney Brothers, a life of separate musical paths has brought them back together. Roxeen & Dalrympleis a classic guitar and mandolin duet, a tour de force of vocals, rhythm and traditional melodies.
Individually the duo consists of Roxeen Robertsand Gary Dalrymple. Collectively they are highly respected, veteran musicians with impressive musical resumes. They are multiple East Coast Music Awards (ECMAs) nominees, Maritime Gospel Music awards (MGMA) nominees, and have won numerous Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Music Awards (ECBMAs). They have toured coast to coast in Canada and the United States and now, after careers of extensive travel and performing and recording, the duo couldn’t be more excited as to where they have landed musically.
As Roxeen Robertsrecently noted, “we honestly love and cherish the classic sounds of traditional country and bluegrass music”. They honour the music of the past yet embrace the present through their own originality. Gary Dalrymple stated, “we both grew up on the sounds of Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, Porter Wagoner & Dolly Parton etc, you know, the good stuff. It is this style of music that we are so excited to be performing. Our show includes many of the standards, however, expect to hear some of our own material, songs of course, that are heavily influenced by the music we were raised on”.
The duo is thrilled to be coming to Chezzetcook for their very first time. Roxeen & Dalrymple’s May 27thdate is one of numerous spring performances within the Maritimes. In general, they have had a busy last several months, touring Alberta, Ontario, Newfoundland, and just recently coming back from their first West Coast tours of Washington State and British Columbia, as well as New England.
Music on May 27th will start at 2:00 PM. Tickets are available at the door. For info contact (902)222-4835.
