Letter--It's Not About a School

Dear Eastern Shore Cooperator, No one on the Eastern Shore would disagree that a replacement school for ESDH and GBJH is long overdue. Our students, faculty and staff—who have been forgotten budget after budget—deserve a new, safe and modern building. I’m thrilled for those who will get to proudly walk through the doors.

Letter--Settling Cemeteries in BOJ 2L0

Gravesites in B0J 2L0’s Cemeteries are settling considerably after the Feb 2nd announcement of the Eastern Shore Consolidated new school being relocated to an Industrial Park location in Chezzetcook. I'm not an expert on this strange phenomenon, but most likely it's those dear souls who built up this community spinning in their graves after having heard this unbelievable, non-democratic decision.

A Farewell and a Welcome

In November, the Canada media conglomerate Torstar shut down its Nova Scotia paper, the Halifax Star. And almost immediately, the Cooperator’s long-time printer, Transcontinental (TCI) announced that losing the Star business was forcing it to close its plant on PEI.

Any time you start talking about getting water to the core of Musquodoboit Harbour, you hear the same groans I heard at the June meeting of the Musquodoboit Harbour & Area Chamber of Commerce: “Oh no, we’ve been talking about that since I was the chair of the Ratepayers Commission back in the 1990s.” Only to be topped by an even louder groan, “I was sitting here 50 years ago talking about water.”
