This is just another way to gain attention to try and get support for a MPA. Fishermen are already concerned about no take zones and a whale sanctuary is a no take zone and probably wouldn’t even be able to fish anywhere near it. It seems that our government is determined to destroy what is left of the eastern shore. By creating a few jobs for a tourist attraction they will potentially be condemning hundreds of jobs. The DFO and government haven’t given anyone certainty that they will have a job in the future. If a MPA needs to be put in somewhere put it in a place where people can work around it, not completely destroy an entire fishing area and a bunch of communities.
