Whereas I can sympathize with much of Ms. MacIsaac’s concerns, I do however, take issue with her last statement.
“I hope this is taken into serious consideration as financially it makes sense to combine the construction of two aged schools into one new modern facility. "
This epitomizes the problem with NS education. Money is the priority; quality of education appears to be irrelevant. Maybe when there is a need for expensive, specialized equipment for high school grades a case could be made for combining; however for lower grades smaller units are preferred. At present some students waste three hours in transit by bus to and from school; this is absolutely ridiculous. I am not convinced that hundreds of buses are any cheaper than small. local, energy efficient schools would be. Of course our former school board would not make this information available when requested by the school trustees of a sadly, now defunct local elementary school. Bigger is rarely better!
