There’ll be a bit of excavation coming up in the parking lot of the Harbour Lites Seniors Club on the Meaghers Grant Road. Seems that what Club member Edyth Shuman jokingly calls a “stinkhole” has opened up in the middle of the parking lot.
It’s not one of those large-scale sinkholes, like the one in Oxford that could take down a part of the Trans-Canada Highway. After some preliminary digging, it appears that the area was used as a dumping spot for trees and wood waste, and the biomass has rotted away. Cleaning it up will involve extensive, and expensive, digging, and the Club is hoping to get financial help from HRM to fix the problem.
