Author, artist and mental health therapist Lou (Luigi) Costanzo began studying psychology and art in the late 1960's before beginning his work with children and mental health in Halifax, NS, in 1984. In 1987, he studied stone carving and bronze casting at the Institutio Allende visual arts school in Mexico.
He returned to Halifax to continue providing clinical therapy for children in crisis while at the same time producing stone sculptures for art exhibits in a variety of galleries in Halifax.
In this talk, he will discuss his book Sculpting Towards The Light and reflect on the creative process he uses in stone carving, drawing on his experiences as a mental health therapist and artist.
