Owner Wendy Hanlan is a retreat specialist dedicated to creating local experiences for visitors to the Eastern Shore. She offers a tiny house rental and onsite wellness workshops through Airbnb as well as workshops in partnership with local businesses,
Hanlan described how she chose the area, “This location is close to the vibrant village of Musquodoboit Harbour and it also offers easy access to coastal and wilderness areas where you can hike, bike, surf, kayak or just relax on a beautiful beach. I have been enjoying outdoor adventures on the Eastern Shore for many years, so I am able to provide local travel tips to visitors.” She designed her rental space to be welcoming and flexible. As she explained, “I’m a full-time onsite host and live in a tiny house myself. I am enthusiastic about living small and wanted to share that experience with others.”
The accommodation at Harbour Retreat is Tackle Box Cottage, a sweet 200 sq.ft. tiny house that is comfortable and efficient with many welcoming touches. The big backyard has a bonfire seating area, a BBQ, picnic table, and a hammock, giving guests lots of space to stretch out with options for viewing the spectacular sunsets. Hanlan adds “It is ideal for solo travellers or couples and also provides a hands-on experience for those considering joining the tiny house movement - it definitely provides some insight into the art of living small.”
Harbour Retreat also offers wellness workshops. During the summer months, they are offered outdoors onsite and year-round at other business locations in the village. Hanlan described the current options: “Cannabis Infused Bath & Body Treats has been very popular and is a favourite as an activity for a group of friends. It provides participants with recipes to create their own topicals for things like relaxation and pain management. Topicals do not get you high. They only absorb to the level of pain receptors just below the skin and don’t enter the bloodstream. Many people who take this workshop are exploring alternatives for chronic pain such as arthritis.”
