There is a lot of excitement happening on the Business Front.
-
The owners of the Tim Hortons In Porters Lake have confirmed that they have purchased the piece of property in Musquodoboit Harbour (mentioned in Sept ESC Issue Business News). They are planning to build a Tim Hortons, Gas Station and convenience store combination. Grading on the property has already started. Stay tuned for more info.
-
Porters Lake may be getting affordable housing units at the bottom on Candlewood Drive. The footings are in and approximately 8 units are in the works.
-
Across the street from above, on Porters Lake, the multi unit property which houses Piper & Max, CIS, In the Raw, etc is for sale. The sign went up shortly after ESC Sept Issue hit the stands.
-
Speaking of Piper & Max used clothing store, they are planning a move to the Porters Lake Shopping mall in November.
-
A piece is being built on to the plaza where McKay’s Restaurant is. This may be the new home to a discount store now further east.
- Not quite business but the new Sheet Harbour P-12 school in progressing. The walls are starting to get higher and lots of trucks. It is slated to open Fall of 2019.
- The Musquodoboit Harbour Chamber gave an update at their town hall on September 19, as to their plan for beautification and streetscaping in MH with the money they received this past summer (25,000 from the province and $25,000 from the MH Rec Area Rate). The plan is to fix up the signage and get rid of outdated signs, place banners from Smith’s Settlement to the 107, 30 fruit bearing trees and 20 fruit bearing bushes, 9 wooden planter boxes and fix up the benches by the train & Community Garden.
