A Cooperator Editorial
Premier Justin Trudeau has just proposed wasting billions of our hard-earned tax dollars to nationalize the Kinder-Morgan pipeline, one of the most environmentally destructive projects in Canadian history. Trudeau knows that climate change is creating a global crisis. And he knows full well that the only way to reduce the danger of this crisis is to leave most of the remaining fossil fuels in the ground.
Trudeau’s decision to buy this pipeline is as dramatic a demonstration as we could want of the power of the world’s giant oil companies. We are not living in a democracy; we are living in a petro-state, where the health of the planet means nothing compared to oil company profits.
On Monday, June 4, Canadians across the country will be heading for their Liberal MPs offices to ask them to reverse Trudeau’s disasterous decision in a National Day of Action to Stop the Kinder Morgan Buyout.
In Nova Scotia, people will be gathering at MP Andrew Fillmore’s constituency office in Halifax on Monday, June 4, 1888 Brunswick Street, at 12PM.
For more information, check on LeadNow’s website, one of the groups organizing these demonstrations, and for other things you can do if you can’t get to Fillmore’s office.
