Jill Bellefontaine, 19, from West Chezzetcook, is one of two summer interns at the Cooperator. Having lived on the Eastern Shore her whole life, she knows this place like the back of her hand. But she signed on with the Cooperator hoping to learn even more about, and get more involved with, the community itself.
Jill says the job is unlike anything she has ever tried before, and she’s excited about pursue something new. While working at the paper, Jill wants to “develop my writing and time management skills so I can produce better lab reports and essays when I return to school in September. I also hope to learn more about all the different things that this amazing community has to offer.”
Outside of work, Jill enjoys doing landscape and sports photography, hiking in both new and old places with her dog (Dexter) and friends. She also loves to cook, bake, try new recipes, and, on the sportier side of things, she also enjoys playing rugby. She’s studying Biology at St. Mary’s University, with a special interest in marine biology. “I chose to study this because I have a combined passion for the environment and animals,” she said.
Jill is passionate about the Eastern Shore and considers it her home, “Although I want to see the world and everything that it has to offer, I want to be able to come back to here and call this place home. My favorite part about the Eastern shore is that no matter where you are, there is never an ocean too far from you.”
