LETTER TO THE EDITOR--DECEMBER 2017
The province needs to do a better job combatting the persistent and growing problem of litter on our roadsides.
I’m concerned about the negative impression all this litter gives visitors to our province, It may also have a negative impact on prospective property owners thinking about moving to our communities.
I would like to see the whatever provincial agency is response put up anti-littering signs along the Eastern Shore, and educating our young people about the negative effects of littering on tourism and the environment.
Tourism could play a role by making "No Littering" litter bags available to tourists. This approach has been effective at reducing litter in other jurisdictions in Canada. In addition, the province should have enough regularly serviced waste pickups at all of our tourist destinations, roadside look-offs, trail heads, and parks.
