President of the Four Harbours Branch# 120 Royal Canadian Legion
I would like to tell you a little about our organization, the Royal Canadian Legion. Our mission is to serve Veterans and their dependents, promote Remembrance, and act in the service of Canada and its communities. Not only do we help Veterans, we also donate to our local hospital, fire department, bursaries, schools and our community!
Our object is to always assist Veterans, their spouses and dependents. We must never forget about the sacrifice they made so we can all enjoy the freedoms we enjoy today. We thank them and continue to support them and those serving today.
Every year our volunteers distribute poppies during our Poppy Campaign in November. Each year it’s getting harder to fill these positions. During our poppy campaign, we also visit our local schools, which we look forward to each and every year.
We are always looking for new members and we would love to have you join Four Harbours. Our membership is aging and we need new members to help us to continue the work of the Royal Canadian Legion. If you are interested, please contact our Membership Chair Comrade Theresa Fahie at 902-772-2324. She will help you through the process. Our dues are $40.00 a year at this time.
Please feel free to drop by and see what we are all about, or join us Thursday nights for Crib. During the fall and winter we have a Dart League. We were doing Chase the Ace on Friday evenings but it was won on February 9th by Helena Branton. We hope to start up again in the fall. We also make our Hall available for rentals, weddings, baby showers, fund raisers for the Legion as well as community members, dances, exercise classes, etc.
I would like to take this time to say thank you to our members and communities for all your support in this endeavour. Please remember that we are all volunteers and would love to have you join us. We hold our General Meeting the 1st Monday of each month, and our Executive Meeting the 3rd Monday of each month.
Thank you for your time in reading this note. "LEST WE FORGET"
