Nipniku’s is the Mi’kmaw moon falling upon us this month. This is pronounced “Nib-nee-goos”, and it means “Trees Fully Leafed” moon. The birds have hatched and as we witness the dawn chorus each morning, the Deanery wakes up to excitement at each turn of a new week.
We kicked-off our summer of community connection and hands-on learning with the Natural Building EAST colloquium. Inspiring presenters and attendees gathered inside the billowing Lotus yurt, where we tended to a fire of warm conversation and began to satisfy participant’s appetites for low-carbon innovations and traditional ways of knowing. We hope everyone left inspired to help the collective charge forward into a low-carbon future.
Under the shade of the newly leafed trees that nurture the Deanery landscape and wildlife, we
invite you to find sources of connection and inspiration this summer. In June, we have new Introduction to Stained Glass classes, volunteer Garden Sundays, Paddle Canada Kayak courses, and as always, Doug and Brock will be busy inside our Bike Hub, ready to help you ride merrily with the summer breeze.
For those adventurous kiddos that are eager to spend their days outdoors this summer, watch for our Deanery summer camp happening the week of July 7th. We’ll have coastal experiences, artistic explorations, wildlife literacy, and plenty of fun.
