Summer hasn’t even arrived yet, but things are starting to open up at the Musquodoboit Harbour Railway Museum. Already open for business is the Whistlestop Gift Shop. Located in the Freight Shed at the Museum, the shop features crafts and gift idea made by crafters and artists from the region. They are open Thursdays to Sundays 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The Sober Island Beer Garden has also opened its 2025 season. Come say hello to Dylan Giles, who will be managing the Beer Garden this year. Sober Island will once again host their popular Trivia Nights on Thursday as well as the occasional music event and maybe even a karaoke night from their stage next to the Museum.
Summer also means that the Farmers Market is back at the Museum every Sunday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The Market has become not only a popular place to shop, but an important social centre for the community. June also means that the Bandwagon Food Truck and the Polar Bear Ice Cream Shop will be open. Check out their hours on-line and drop by for a taste of Eastern Shore hospitality.
As Summer kicks into full gear, so do the events at the Museum. “We have an exciting line-up of events scheduled this year,” says John Verlinden, President of the Heritage Society. “We will be celebrating our 50th year as a museum with both returning events and several new programs.”
