What Does Protection Mean?
Premier McNeil seems to think that Oil and Gas development is a perfect fit with a Marine Protected Area. Just as he probably thinks that it is appropriate to clearcut a game sanctuary. (Liscombe) The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Keith Colwell says that he is concerned about the livelihood of the lobster fishers with the Eastern Shore being declared an Area of Interest for a Marine Protected Area.

MLA Kevin Murphy will be a critical player in the upcoming but still undefined site selection process for a new high school on the Eastern Shore. Back in 2014, Murphy proposed moving Eastern Shore District High, the skating rink, and the Birches Nursing Home from Musquodoboit Harbour to what he called a “campus” in the Eastern Shore Industrial Park in Chezzetcook. In an interview, Murphy reviewed the history of his “campus” proposal, and the potential for locating additional facilities and services at a new high school.

Is the Twin Oaks Waste Water Treatment Plant polluting Petpeswick Inlet? The plant serves Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Eastern Shore District High, and the Birches nursing home.
John Woods has been on a long and twisting odyssey through urban and provincial bureaucracies trying to nail down hard evidence about the impact of the plant on the inlet. Woods, an engineer by trade, embarked on this voyage as the chair of the Infrastructure Committee of the Musquodoboit Harbour & Area Chamber of Commerce & Civic Affairs.
