CBC's Land and Sea program will feature local spinner, artist, and colour master Leslie Hauck on October 24, 2018 at 11:30 am. In her 2015 article in the Cooperator, Hauck wrote about being honoured as an instructor for “The Year of Craft” Fibre Arts Conference organized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Craft Council. Hauck is well known locally for her work with a wide range of fibres, including wool, silk, Sable Island pony hair, milkweed pod silk, and even dog hair! Hauck practices her craft at The Spinner’s Loft in West Jeddore.

The owners of the Tim Hortons In Porters Lake have confirmed that they have purchased the piece of property in Musquodoboit Harbour (mentioned in Sept ESC Issue Business News). They are planning to build a Tim Hortons, Gas Station and convenience store combination. Grading on the property has already started. Stay tuned for more info.

The 33rd Annual Sheet Harbour 48-Hour Ball Tournament took place over the August 17th weekend this year. It kicked off at 5pm on Friday as it does every year. The rain held off until supper time on Saturday, and despite the torrential rain that came crashing down on Saturday evening, the games went on.
