On behalf of Eastern Shore Pride, I am pleased to report that our second annual festival, held August 19-27, was a resounding success. The 8-day festival, which included a diverse set of events, the majority of which were free of charge, was held in several communities between Musquodoboit Harbour and Lake Charlotte.

The second annual “Halloween Trick or Treat Trail Walk” will take place on Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 1-3 pm hosted by SATA Trails Society. The festivities will be on the Gaetz Brook Greenway Trail from East Chezzetcook to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 161 (3-4km). Rain date will be Sunday October 30, 2022. It’s an accessible event, open to people of all ages and their four-legged friends.

The Eastern Shore-based Gold Sox girls fast-pitch softball teams had a good year. Co-presidents Steve Wentzell and Meghan Doucette took over the old Gold Diggers in January, changing the name to Gold Sox.

On an afternoon in early September, I met with the vibrant and personable Crystal Tobin Legere, who lives in a cozy old house built in 1900 with a panoramic view of Jeddore Harbour. She has named her home “Tigh Na Mara”, Gaelic for “gateway to the sea,” a nod to her Cape Breton upbringing.
