In last month’s article “The First Keepers of Jeddore Light,” Cynthia Parr laid out what she had learned from digging into local archives about the first three people who had served as lighthouse keepers (the expanded version of the article can be found on The Cooperator's website, in the Community & Culture tab).
She noted that her research is ongoing, and asked for anyone with more information about the other keepers to please get in touch with her. We heard from Beverly Haatala, who told us that her grandfather, Everett Baker was a keeper, and that she visited him on the Rock as a child. Haatala said Everett took over from Frank Baker in 1946, and left in 1952, when his son-in-law Albert R. Arnold took over.
If you have more information or photos about anyone who served as a lighthouse keeper on Jeddore Rock, please contact Cynthia Parr at [email protected] or (902)889-9081.
