The Halifax County Exhibition reopened from August 17-20, continuing a tradition that began in 1884l. Almost all of the familiar standbys were in place, from ox-pulls to quilting, with all your favorite fair food, like caramel apples and strawberry shortcake.
There were plenty of horses and dairy and beef cattle, with a few goats sprinkled in. But there was no Pet and Poultry Show, on the recommendation of the Department of Agriculture, because of concerns about avian flu among poultry and waterfowl.
