The Sambea National Jumper Festival returned on June 18 for the first time since the pandemic.
The Sambea National Jumper Festival is a horse jumping event where the rider takes their horse through obstacles and jumps at Sambea Farm in Lawrencetown.
“We aren’t out of the woods regarding COVID-19. Hopefully, that will change in 2023. The participation is similar; equestrians have been eager to get back into competition,” Nathalie Green, the farm’s operator, said.
Green told the Cooperator the significant difference between now and before COVID-19 is the spectators. 2018 had over 400 spectators throughout the festival. Green said that the Festival did not overtly encourage spectators this year.
Green said the weekend was fantastic for the horses, riders, coaches and spectators on site. She hopes to have more spectators and vendors next year.
