Minister of Natural Resources Tory Rushton (3rd from left) and Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Kent Smith, the local MLA, share the ribbon-cutting shears at a ceremony on October 6 celebrating the $2.6 million upgrade of Martinique Beach Provincial Park.
Rushton credited Smith for having pushed for these improvements since Smith’s first day in the legislature. The most noticeable of the changes are the expansion of the parking lot from 130 to 350 vehicles. There are also new accessible vault toilets and footwash stations, a new concessions area picnic spaces, and pedestrian pathways.
In the video linked below, Tara Crandlemere, Director of Parks and Outreach at the Department of Natural Resources, talks about how the department went about designing the many improvements.
