“It’s the longest trip I’ve ever been on,” said Peter Connors of his trip to Hobart, Tasmania with a delegation led by Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture Minister Keith Colwell. In a recent interview, Connors talked about his experience on the trip. Thus far, Colwell’s office has not released any comments about the trip, although Colwell did sign a memorandum of understanding with the Tasmanian Minister for Primary Industries and Water.

The Clipper Gallery held a silent auction on Saturday, March 9that the Old School Gathering Place, Musquodoboit Harbour. This event was held to raise bursary funds to assist an Eastern Shore District High School student in attending NSCAD (Nova Scotia College of Art and Design) in the fall of 2019. Student applications will be accepted in the spring, and the successful applicant will receive $1000. The event raised almost $1500. The remainder will be held over and added to the proceeds of the 2020 event.

On a beautiful sunny February day, I drive east to Sheet Harbour to talk with Sandy and Robert Moser who paint and photograph the landscape and wildlife of the Eastern Shore. Robert greets me outside, and inside Sandy gives me a tour of their house with paintings and photographs on many walls. Robert shows me photographs of sunrises and sunsets in Mushaboom and Taylor Head, and Sandy has large paintings of loons sitting on an emerald lake, and jewelry of sea glass and silver--these are the jewels of the sea and the lake that are the rich, colourful artwork of this husband-and-wife team.
